Did you know that our favorite cocoa powdered chocolate concoction gets its name from Truffles?
The rootless fungus growing underground in root systems of broad-leafed trees such as hazelnuts, holm oaks, lindens, willows and poplars are the mushrooms which lend their name to the world renowned chocolate dessert. The original hand made cocoa dusted chocolate ganache resembled the irregularly shaped and porous wrinkled skin of truffles. And of course the sensual flavor that is associated with truffle mushrooms contributes to its name. |
